Writers @ Work, a nationally-known independent writer’s organization, has successfully promoted and supported a creative writing community--locally, regionally and nationally-- for twenty-five years. While attending W@W events writers can hone their skills and meet to discuss their work with fellow writers, agents, editors and publishers.

W@W was founded in 1984, when Dolly Makoff, the owner of Dolly’s Bookstore in Park City, Utah, approached writer/editor James Thomas about the possibility of having a writers’ conference in Park City. Phyllis Barber and François Camoin soon joined the group, and W@W was born.

For the past twenty-five years W@W has held an annual writers’ conference each summer, starting in Park City, then moving to Westminster College in Salt Lake City. The 2009 conference returned to Park City and was held at Spiro Arts Community, in the Silver Star resort, and was, frankly, a blast.

But, as the young Bob Dylan sang, “The times, they are a changing…”

W@W is currently restructuring to launch the organization into another successful twenty-five years. Not to fear: W@W will not disappear during 2010; our mission is to become a year-round presence in Utah. Instead of a single large conference in 2010 W@W will sponsor mini-workshops, readings and soon to-be-announced events that will culminate in the reborn 2011 Writers @ Work Conference.

The W@W Board looks forward to seeing you at one or all of these new events. To past and future participants in W@W: You are the reason we are here. Thank you for your continuing support!
