The story goes…
Blank paper. Blue sky. Staring down at one and gazing up at the other, a group of writers and arts patrons were inspired to put their minds together for the common good of writers everywhere. Almost a quarter centruy ago, these visionaries founded Writers at Work to give established and aspiring writers a place to meet and learn from esteemed professionals in the literary and publishing worlds.

We continue today as a venue for those who view words as art and empty pages as opportunity.  We provide a roster of carefully considered authors, editors and agents for five days workshops, panels, readings and interviews.  Combined with hikes, yoga, early morning coffee and late night revisions … from beginning to end, our conference is designed to fully engage writers in the experience of writing, learning and community.

Writers @ Play All work and no play makes for poor character development. So this year we’re creating a schedule of extracurricular activities. After expanding your mind, you’ll have an opportunity to stretch your legs and socialize with daily hikes, yoga classes, and coffees. The more adventurous can bicycle or hike in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Westminster College is located in the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City. Just off campus you’ll find interesting architecture, restaurants, book stores, yoga studios and shopping. All within easy walking distance.

The work behind Writers@Work
An all volunteer board of directors donates hundreds of hours each year to present the conference. Our programs and services are supported by government and private grants, corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and tuition fees.
