Are you ready to kick-start your creative process this Fall? If so, the Writers @ Work Re-Boot Camp with Joel Long is just the workshop for you.
Grabbing the Wild Goat: The first session of the day, we will explore ideas about writing discovery, both in poetry and nonfiction. We will do a number of poetry exercises that encourage some wildness in the writers, allowing music of language to move them toward something new, the surprise of the poem.
The second session of the day will turn this idea of discovery toward nonfiction, exploring how photographic images and postcards can lead us to tell stories that need to be told. At the end of the day, students will have a chance to share their work and get feedback. During both sessions we will talk about how to revise from the initial momentum of the drafts.
